About Opportunity:

An integral part of SOMC is a multi disciplinary research team that combines the technical expertise of the departments of Engineering, Chemistry and Geology at the University of Aberdeen. The centre can provide mechanical testing, extensive chemical analysis facilities and consultancy services including finite element analysis and design solutions for the oil and gas sector. SOMC welcomes research and development programmes of all types, ranging from large-scale international collaborative projects to short-term consultancy and testing for individual companies. The facilities at SOMC include: four HP-HT chambers up to 152 mm diameter and 300 mm long, capable of temperatures up to 250 deg.C and pressures up to 200 Mpa, a fully equipped thermal analysis laboratory which includes DSC, TMA, DMTA, FTIR and TG-MS, a fully equipped materials testing laboratory, non-linear finite element modelling expertise, corrosion testing in a range of environments and metrology, surface analysis and extensive microscopy facilities.
