About Opportunity:
Pre-visualisation tools for animation have been developed which marry up storyboard entries and soundtrack to give a sense of the finished product in the form of a so-called ‘animatic’.
Animatics bring a film storyboard to life by combining and synchronising the storyboard with its soundtrack. If the storyboard entries are converted into a vector graphics format, such as Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), the animatic can also be used as a web-friendly design and publicity tool. The tools build on a range of techniques developed specifically for the cartoon animation industry.
Key Benefits:
Applications:
Film and video pre-production.
IP Status:
Software demonstrators of the Animatic Compositor and Animatic Player have been completed and are available under an Open Source Software license. The software can be downloaded from the SourceForge web site. The vectorising tool for converting hand drawn storyboards into Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) images is currently at the research stage pending further development.
