About Opportunity:
Our invention, which was developed by Dr. Martin Ryan, is an assay to evaluate the ability of new drug candidates to inhibit an interaction which is essential for picornaviral replication in a host cell. This efficient and economic assay may be the key step in the drug discovery and development process, by potentially identifying novel anti-viral agents.
The assay is applicable to the following picornaviruses: aphthoviruses, rhinoviruses, cardioviruses, enteroviruses, parechoviruses and hepatoviruses. In addition, it can also be applied to the following calciviruses: Feline Calcivirus (FECV); and Southampton virus (SV).
