Centre for Vision in Health
Glasgow Caledonian University has built a solid foundation of multi-disciplinary vision research. The Centre for Vision in Health further develops this expertise via enhanced contributions by researchers in optometry, physiology, biochemistry, psychology, physics, and microbiology. Additional medical links via the appointment of two senior academic consultant ophthalmologists have also been developed.
The Centre and its critical mass of expertise create a unique and integrated network of vision research in Scotland, with key strands of research including – prevention of amelioration of visual impairment; prevention of corneal disease; vision for early learning; vision in efficient working and learning. The Centre also undertakes knowledge transfer to optometrists to for example, meet the Government’s agenda for co-management of eye disease and access to independent drug presciber status for optometrists.
